Cuevas de Sucre are fascinating lava formations in an endemic forest, on the way to Isabela’s farms. They are about 14 km from town, or around a 15-minute taxi ride. The ceilings of the lava tunnels look a little like a gold mine.
You can see endemic plants along the caves and tunnels. On the way back, you can stop at Mirador del Mango, a highland viewpoint where an introduced mango tree was once planted. It’s a lovely land-based alternative to snorkeling.
